King’s Chapel (NZ) - Flutter Bye (SAF)
Just when we thought this year’s crop couldn’t get any better, our Labeeb mare Flutter Bye preseneted us with this strapping colt foal by Bush Hill Stud Sire, King’s Chapel.
King’s Chapel is a magnificent looking stallion with size, substance and quality, and he is beautifully balanced. He was a ten time winner in New Zealand and Australia, including 3 wins at Group 1 level. He was crowned a multiple Champion as a three-year-old in New Zealand, winning the Champion Sprint/Miler title, Champion Three-Year-Old title and Horse Of The Year title.
His impressive race record included victories in the Super Bonus Classique (L) (1200m) at two, the New Zealand 2000 Guineas (Gr1) (1600m), the Telegraph Handicap (Gr1) (1200m), the WFA Stakes (Gr1) (1400m) and the Ray Coupland Stakes (L) (1400m) at three.
Flutter Bye’s first dam, Going Places, is a half sister to Spathi and First Movement; and is the dam of 8 foals; 8 runners; 6 winners including Ipi Tombe Challenge (Gr2) victress FIRST AGAIN by Muhtafal.
We’re certainly going to be keeping an eye on this fellow’s career.
Horse Chestnut (SAF) - Flutter Bye (SAF)
In a somewhat ironic scheduling of nature, Flutter Bye, a half sister to Grade 2 Ipi Tombe Challenge victress First Again, presented Backworth with our ‘second’ foal of the season. A strapping colt by arguably the best racehorse to have run in South Africa in the past 40 years and the nation’s only Triple Crown winner in history, Horse Chestnut.
If his first few days in the paddocks are any indication, this chap is sure to send a few ‘hearts a fluttering’.
