Backworth-bred Aquinata won a super race Friday at Fairview for trainer Dorrie Sham with jockey Karl Zechner up. Prior to this maiden win, the striking grey daughter of Silvano, out of Tsunami by Shaamit, had placed twice from her first two starts. The 3-year-old bay filly is from the family of multiple Group 1 winners Drought (AUS) 8 wins, Salcantay (AUS) 5 wins, Kia Marea (NZ) 11 wins and Kia Maia (NZ) 10 wins and is a graduate from the Backworth draft of the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
