Prior to this maiden win, the striking grey daughter of Silvano, out of Tsunami by Shaamit, had placed twice from her first two starts. Reigning Wave... It's a Tsunami!

On her Poly debut over a distance a little short of optimal, the Backworth-bred Reigning Wave, came from behind to wash her opposition away, scoring an emphatic win in the process for trainer Paul Gadsby with Brandon Lerena up. Congratulations to owner Mr Henk Nel from Thor Insurance Brokers.

Scintillating Scottsville Sunday

Scintillating Scottsville Sunday

Whilst we desperately await the start of the rainy season here in KwaZulu-Natal, there was no dampening the spirits of our Backworth-breds Sunday, as they blitzed the Scottsville turf in scintillating fashion.

Look who's admiring Aquinata...

Dilemma time!! Hermes, Handbags... or Horses?

“The Midas Touch”

Backworth welcomed the visits this past weekend of dear friend of the farm Anne Veltman, Robin and Joyce Scott, Keith and Pauline Young and the Marnewick family; Michael, Candiese, Julia and Mia.

Hermes, Handbags… or Horses?! Anne Veltman was presented with a ‘real dilemma’ as she was simply taken in by Aquinata; a flashy, grey filly yearling by Silvano out of Tsunami.

After many years of committed and successful racing in Zimbabwe, as well as her midas touch, maybe it’s time Anne swopped shopping in London for the real thing?!

As seen in the pic above, Stud Manager Johan Alberts endorses Anne’s choice of Yearling!

LOOK OUT FOR THIS SILVANO YEARLING AT NEXT YEAR'S SALES

Silvano (GER) - Tsunami (SAF)

Earlier this week we shared with you the news of the arrival of Tsunami’s beautful ‘pure’ black filly foal by King’s Chapel.

Here is Tsunami’s spectacular grey yearling, a filly by Silvano - probably one of our top yearlings for next year’s Emperors Palace National Yearlings Sale!

BLACK AND WHITE... HOLD ON TIGHT!
