Backworth-bred Scandal scored again for trainer Corne Spies on Monday at Fairview in a MR80 Open Handicap. Fellow Backworth-bred Sanctuary scooted home to take third in a FM 71 Handicap for trainer Alan Greeff.
Backworth-breds Aquinata and Scandal represented the farm with distinction Friday at Fairview. Aquinata flew home in the ninth for Dorrie Sham, Adriaan and Rika van Vuuren and Scandal scored a quarter length second in the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes for Corne Spies. Prior to this maiden win, the striking grey daughter of Silvano, out of Tsunami by Shaamit, had placed twice from her first two starts. Backworth-bred Humidor made it 4 wins from just 6 starts when powering home in the Middle Stakes over 1200m at Scottsville Wednesday for trainer Tony Rivalland with maestro Anton Marcus up.
