COLOUR OF COURAGE
Judpot (USA) - Exclusive Honour (SAF) by Exclusive Patriot (USA)
Backworth-bred Colour Of Courage, a son of ‘talk of the National Sales’ Judpot out of our Exclusive Patriot mare Exclusive Honour, won his second start in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes over 1200m at Scottsville Sunday. The unbeaten two-year-old chestnut colt is the first Graded winner for sire Judpot who stands at Varsfontein Stud in partnership with the internationally renowned Niarchos Family.
A R140,000 graduate of the 2012 KZN Yearling Sale (which seems to be yielding a talented group of young horses already including the likes of Stakes winning Jimmi Choo and Grade 2 winning Virgo’s Babe already), Colour Of Courage got his career off to a blazing start by winning on debut at Greyville by half a length on 4 April over 1300m, beating Var colt Translator by half a length.
Trained by Michael and Rae Miller and piloted by Sean Veale on both occasions, Colour Of Courage took home the Umkhomazi Stakes by half a length from Ace Antonius (Antonius Pius) with Journeyman (Trippi) finishing third. Winning jockey Sean Veale labelled the winner ‘one of best babies in the Miller yard.’
Owned by Michel Nairac, Robert Maingard and Baroness Bergsma of Longford, Colour Of Courage takes his stakes earnings to R170,000 from just 2 starts.
As a KZN-bred, Colour Of Courage qualifies for the R200,000 two-year-old race on KZN Breeders Race Day to be staged on 30 June 2013, as well as the R1million KZN Breeders Juvenile race taking place on Vodacom Durban July day - the latter being exclusively for horses who graduated from the 2012 KZN Yearling Sale.

COLOUR OF COURAGE
Judpot (USA) - Exclusive Honour (SAF) by Exclusive Patriot (USA)
Backworth-bred Colour Of Courage (Judpot - Exclusive Honour) scored a tenacious first win, first time out in the first at Greyville Friday evening for the experienced training duo of Mike and Rae Miller under jockey Sean Veale.
Varsfontein owner Susan Rowett Kalmanson (Chairperson of the TBA), and Carl and Amanda de Vos must be excited about their new young stallion JUDPOT who seems to be producing the goods. He has perfect bloodlines being a half-brother to Sire of Sire’s Kingmambo and is by multiple Champion Sire and leading Sire of Sires A.P. Indy and is out of multiple Champion racemare, Miesque. Mieque recorded a total of 10 Grade 1 wins in her racing career including an uprecidented Breeder’s Cup Mile win by a decisive margin. The french-trained daughter of Nureyev earned a Timeform rating of 133 and was elected into the USA Hall of Fame.
Colour Of Courage is a Backworth graduate of the 2012 KZN Yearling Sale and our gut tells us this colt is one to watch.
Congratulations to winning owners Baroness Bergsma of Longford, Michel Nairac (Gold Circle CEO) and Robert Maingard.

Like Father Like Daughter, Like Mother Like Daughter
Horse Chestnut (SAF) - Exclusive Honour (SAF)
We all know the legacy of Horse Chestnut, arguably the best racehorse to run in South Africa in the past 40 years, and South Africa’s only ever Triple Crown winner! In a short, but amazing career, Horse Chestnut won nine of his ten career starts and earned in excess of $470,000.
His achievements included Horse of the Year in 1999; Champion 3-year-old Colt and Champion Male Stayer; won from 1000m in 57.3 secs on his debut to 2450m - the SA Derby (Gr.1) by 10 lengths. He was the first three-year-old in 54 years to win the J&B Met (Gr.1) by 8 lengths and he won the Cape Guineas (Gr.1) by 7.5 lengths. In his only start on foreign soil he won the Gr.3 Broward Handicap in Gulfstream Park by 5.5 lengths.
Now look at this beaut of a filly foal by Horse Chestnut out of our Exclusive Patriot mare, Exclusive Honour… like father like daughter, like mother like daughter.

Miesque’s Approval (USA) - Exclusive Honour (SAF) by Exclusive Patriot (USA)
Backworth-bred National Yearling Sale’s graduate, Truly Exclusive (Miesque’s Approval - Exclusive Honour) won impressively Tuesday night in a Maiden Plate over 1000m at Greyville. Jumping from the outside gate, jockey Raymond Danieslon remained patient near the rear of the field before producing the bay colt perfectly in the straight to steal line honours for trainer Gavin Van Zyl.
Look out for the Miesque’s Approvals… let’s hope there are more just waiting to come out!
