First up was Backworth-bred Sanctuary running over 1600m on the Fairview polytrack for trainer Alan Greeff. The National Emblem filly out of our Fort Wood mare, Forbidden Woods, placed an impressive second under jockey Charles Ndlovu behind they Grey's Inn filly, Ultimate Survival.

A hop across the ocean to Champ de Mars in Mauritius, and the Backworth-bred Gilbert Rousset-trained Colour Of Courage kept the farm's flag flying with a half length second under jockey Vikram Sola over 1365m, finishing behind the Ricky Maingard-trained Tigre Libre.

Back in the mother city, the Backworth-bred Glen Kotzen-trained son of Ideal World, Studiolo, cracked his maiden in a nailbiter under jockey Richard Fourie over 1600m at Kenilworth. In his wake lay the Australian-bred Street Cry colt, World In Union as well as the Gimmethegreenlight gelding, Cream Soda Green.
